Wrong Website's

This is a poster Jodi and I made talking about going onto wrong websites and how to avoid the wrong places. We had to make steps about what to do if you are on a wrong website and make a poster showing them. I found this easy because we had already learnt a little about it and it was just and recap plus more info. Next time I think I could add in more steps and maybe more information. I am proud of this because I think it has some good advice and information about what you could do if you become in this situation.

Commenting Do's & Don'ts

This is our Commenting do's and don'ts. I worked with Aaliyah and we did two do's and don'ts when we were only supposed to do one. We thought it would be good to do two because it is more information.  I found it easy to do this work because we were sitting together and we could verbally talk. We worked collaboratively and didn't get one person to do one thing and the other to do another. Next time I think we can make it a little more pretty and not just black and white. I found it hard to get my buddy to share her ideas but when she did she had great ones and we used them well. This was a fun and easy thing to do. 

Matawai visit

Today some Matawai students came to our school for the day. We did physical education in the first block and then we did a challenge.  We had to make a paper plane that included 4 pieces of 4 straws some blue tack and some tap. I was in a group with two Matawai girls and and one our my friends from school. 

In our group we had to have some Matiwai students, a mixture of year 7s and 8s. We had to follow a few rules while making our paper planes. We had to use all the equipment except the tape and we only had 20 minutes. We folded a paper plane and then added the straws to make it more structured and the tape to hold things together. We didn't really have any place to put the bluetack so we just stuck it to the bottom of the plane. We tested the plane a few times before the length challenge and we thought it was too heavy. There was nothing we could change about it some we entered the challenge. 

We didn't go very well but we didn't came last. Of plane was to heavy and that was why it didn't go as far as the best ones. I thought it is fun working with others that you don't normally work with. Then again I thought it a little hard working with people who you can't relate to as much. Overall I think it was really cool working with Matawai and having them at our school for the day.

My Timetable for the Week

This is my timetable for the week. We have 4 learner profiles which indicate what timetable you get, what privileges you get and what you can chose to do for the week. I am in the highest profile so I get to chose and activity from our list. We have to do one math, one reading, one writing and one future focus. I made a game with gamefroot and you can click on the link on slide 8 to play it. We have workshops throughout the week to that we have to timetable in as well as must do's.

Staying Safe on the Internet

For this piece of work we got put into buddy's and we weren't allowed to see or talk to each other. The only way we could communicate was though comments. I found this challenging but fun also. We had to come up with 3 ideas to talk about, then we had to create a character to say our messages. We did this activity to get ready for when we start working with other schools far away.

What I am most proud of.

I am proud of this creation because it was a thing that no one had done before in our classroom and it is an original piece, meaning we didn't copy someones else' ideas. We made it out of pallets and spare pieces of wood we found. It was a little bit hard to put everything together as we often ran out of things.

What I have learnt from doing this project is to start small and then if everything goes well you can make it a little bigger. We faced this problem while we were building it. We were planning on a hut that could house 8 people but in the end, it is a squee getting at least 3 people in it. I have also learnt how to collaborate with lots of people and include their ideas as well as mine.

I will move forward by remembering to start small and then go big. I will also remember that you need to include everyone's ideas even if you don't think it will work with the plan. One of the most important things I will learn from is not to hit a crowbar with a hammer because it will end in a massively swollen hand that is purple all over.

Free Write

This was a hard piece to write because I couldn't think about Bo without tears. I am proud and I think Bo would be too. I like how I added detail to my writing.

Pepeha

This Is my Pepeha. During this process, I found out that my family were the first English to settle in Whangara Gisborne. I am proud of this because I worked hard and didn't give up when I couldn't find the information I needed.
